Luca Vitone  Intimate itineraries

Vier Jahre nach seiner letzten Ausstellung in Köln "Der unbestimmte Ort", kehrt Luca Vitone nach Köln mit einem neuen Projekt zurück. Bis hierhin hat sich sein Werk hin zu einer bedeutsamen, bezeichnenden Glätte entwickelt, was den Umgang mit den gewöhnlichen Themen künstlerischer Forschung betrifft. Erinnerung , Beziehung zu einem Ort, die Darstellung von Landschaft, nicht selten durch Musik ausgedrückt, Nahrung, Reisen und Kartographie. Alle diese Elemente sind auch in seiner neuen Ausstellung zu finden. Aber wie können wir verstehen, solange der Titel, alles, eine subjektive Konnotation voraussetzen, in welcher des Künstlers Persönlichkeit erscheint. Und was meinem wir in diesem Zusammenhang mit des Künstlers Persönlichkeit überhaupt? Durch seine "Intimate itineries" bringt uns Luca Vitone mit einer Portion Ironie dazu, viele der Gemeinplätze der künstlerischen Praxis seit der Romantik bis hin zur Rock-Kultur zu überdenken.

Luca Vitone, 1964 geboren in Genua, lebt und arbeitet in Mailand. Er ist ein Repräsentant der Generation italienischer Künstler, die am Ende der 80er Jahre anfinden zu arbeiten und eine bemerkenswerte internationale Ausstellungspräsenz erreichten. Neben anderen Ausstellungen, nahm er in den letzten Jahren auch teil an den folgenden: On taking on a normal situation ... (MUHKA, Antwerp), Città Natura ( Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Rome), Officina Italia (Castel S. Pietro), Subway (Milano) und Fuoriuso (Pescara).
Seine letzte Einzelausstellung fand in einem öffentlichen Gebäude in Mailand statt ( Palazzo dell´Arengario, Wide City, März 1998). Er leitete und kuratierte andere künstlerische Veranstaltungen, Incursioni im "Link", Bologna und das Künstlerforum (mit buch) "Come faccio a spiegare a mia madre che quello che faccio serve a qualcosa".

Four years after his last show in Cologne, "Der unbestimmte Ort", Vitone is coming back with a new project. Since then his work has developed toward a major signifiant smoothness in dealing with which are the usual topics of his artistic research. Memory, relation, with a place, landscape´s representation, often expressed through music, food, itineries and mapping.
All those elements are also present in this new show. But how we could understand since the title, everything assume to a subjective connotation, in which the artist personality is finally coming out. But what we mean for artist personality in this context? Is not that another commenplace, another stereotype of the artistic milieu? Through his "Intimate itineries" Luca Vitone, with a certain amount if irony, takes us to reconsider many commenplaces of the artistic pratise since the romantic period to rock´s culture.

Lucas Vitone was born in Genoa in 1964 and now lives and works in Milano. He is one of the representatives of the generation of Italian artists who began to work in the end of the 80ies, achieving a remarkable international exposure. Among other exhibitions, over the last few years he has taken part in: On taking on a normal situation...( Mucka, Antwerp), Città Natura (Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Rome), Officina Italia ( Castel S.Pietro), Subway (Milano) and Fuoriuso (Pescara). His last own personal exhibition was held in a public space in Milano (Pallazo dell´Arengario, Wide City, March 1998). He supervised and curated other artistic events, Incursioni at the Link, Bologna and the artist´s forum and book " Come faccio a spiegare a mia madre che quello che faccio serve a qualcosa".
